Matthew Callewaert, O.D.

Dr. Cal was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, and earned his undergraduate degree from Wichita State University. He then went on to attend Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, Tennessee, a college renowned for its clinical excellence. Dr. Cal completed multiple clinical internships, but most values the training he received while working at the US Air Force Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs, offering eye care to servicemen and women and their families. He graduated with honors from SCO with a Doctorate of Optometry, and was a four-year member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honors Society. After practicing in Seattle for a few years, Dr. Cal returned to the Midwest to practice in Kansas City. Dr. Cal has had extensive training in both medical and refractive conditions of the eye. He is enthusiastic about working with his patients, believing that comprehensive eye care includes connecting with and investing in each individual on a personal level. He finds his career rewarding because it allows him the opportunity to meet and interact with new people every day, and assist them with their visual needs. He enjoys listening to and playing music, fly fishing, walks with his dog Henry, and traveling. His best days are spent with his wife Kelly, doing any of the previously-mentioned activities.
